Safeco Uses Legal Tactics to Increase Profits

My son and I were rear-ended on the interstate by a 4000 lb. pickup truck going approximately 75-80 mph. on the interstate. Their insured was liable for the car accident. When we went to get medical care for the injuries, Safeco refused liability in order to not pay for the medical care that was needed, even though their insured was at fault.

Each time I would give a medical care facility the claim number, a Safeco representative would either refuse to accept liability, or make up a false story saying the medical coverage limit had been used up, which it hadn't, or other tactics to prevent from having to pay on the claim. Why do they do this? First, to not have to pay on a claim.

And second, if they refuse to pay for medical care, then if the person who has been injured can not afford to be treated properly for their injuries (which most uninsured cannot afford the exorbitant medical expenses) - ie, they run out of money to self-pay - then there is no record , or a very limited record, of medical care to provide the medical record needed during the litigation process. By not having a record of medical care, they can argue in court that the injury is not related to the car accident, ie, it keeps the causal link from being proved in court, thereby they will get away with not having to pay for the medical care related to the injury. They know that if they can stall the injured person's medical care, when the case goes to trial, they will not be able to prove the injuries were directly related to the car accident, because time passes between the date of the accident and the date of the medical care. It is legal tactic they use to avoid paying on claims, and it is hurting people, including children, in this country.
