Robbed at the hospital

I came to San Francisco General Hospital to receive some penicillin for strep throat a while ago. I waited all day in numerous lines and places before I received the simple bottle of pills. Then I got the bill for almost $500. This is the most basic medicine in the world and I don’t see how it can be justified that I have to pay so much money for it. I have had insurance in the past but I canceled it because I was going to get it through a job and then I quit soon afterwards. I couldn’t afford to pay that amount with car payments and everything else. Everything in the Bay Area is expensive. It’s crazy that we call America the land of opportunity when it’s so hard to reach our goals with all of these basic necessities being ripped right out from under us.
