My 16 year old very healthy patient's insurance policy rejected
I am a chiropractor. My healthy 16 year old patient had five visits in 2007. She is very active and plays soccer for her high school team. She sprained her ankle two different times; her wrist once and a sore lumbo-sacral spine once.
Her Blue shield policy required a new diagnosis for every claim, unless it was severe. If severe she might get two or three visits on a single diagnosis. Each injury was resolved in a single visit.
Her policy was rejected when the parents switched policies. Blue shield is playing a sort of entrapment game with their insured. Now that rejection will always have to be disclosed every time she seeks insurance and will trigger further rejections.
