Medicare Part D Drug Insurance Fiasco

I signed up for Medicare Part D [Drug Plan] in what I thought would be a routine manner, as I have no severe health problems, and take only a few prescription medicines, all of which are generic. All went well for 3 months, with regular invoices, which I paid promptly. Then I failed to get my usual premium invoice on time. I got suspicious, so I called the 800 number, and got some person in the Philippines. They said I had been dropped from the plan, but could give no reason. Weeks of effort with the insurance agent and the company got nowhere. They blamed Medicare, Social Security, and anybody but themselves!

When things seemed to be at a total impasse, I contacted the office of my US House Representative -- Doctor Steve Kagen. In just a few days, his people contacted the insurance company and others, and resolved the problem. I have no proof, but I suspect the agent who signed me up botched the paper work for me, and for others. I found out that this agent no longer works at the local agency office, so perhaps he was fired.

The lesson here -- The private insurance companies which supposedly do it "better" than the government actually do worse, and charge for the service! I have never had a problem with Social Security or Medicare persons that are the government that works for me. The insurance people work for themselves to get the maximum profit, with the least service to me, who pays for it all. I regard the private health insurers as having the same business plan as that used by the Somali pirates, who also charge a "modest fee" to let the cargo pass!

As far as I am concerned, all the medical insurers be damned. They profit at the rate of some 20 to 30% of the money we pay for medical care. Look at the multimillion dollar takings [so-called "earnings"] of the insurance greed oriented fat cats, and the fancy buildings that rival hospitals in size, but provide not one iota of actual health care!
