Hey , My Daughter is sick!! She has Lyme Disease.
Taylor, my daughter became very ill about four years ago. She just never recovered. Severe daily pounding head aches, migraines, body pain, numb limbs. Could not get out of bed for weeks . Hospitalized here in Toledo, one specialist after another. They all agreed she was "very " ill. Hospitalized in Ann Arbor with a group of Neurologists. She continued to decline. Finally through a spinal tap and a Dr in W Broomfield Mi. She was diagnosed with Lyme. By this time it had spread to her central nervous system causing debilitating symptoms. She was a cross country runner and a dancer, also sang in the A Capella choir and participated in band and theatre. One by one she had to give up each activity as her body grew weaker and weaker.
Our Dr in West Broomfield began treating her aggressively. Sadly the very iv treatments that seemed to save her life were exactly what Aetna does not want to cover. Claiming of all things."wrong code" The office , myself, the representative for our company have all spent hours with Aetna to try and get the correct coding. They lost our filings at least four times. They do not know who has them , They don't know where they went etc. I know this sounds too ridiculous to be true , but it is. I am contemplating selling my home so I can keep her treatments going. She is Thank God much better, but we cannot stop treatments at this juncture or we risk a serious relapse. She may have life time challenges from this terrible disease. But the travesty is that many doctors right from the beginning thought she had Lyme but did not start treatment for fear of insurance consequences.
The insurance company's want a Lyme Titer to be used.EVERY LYME EXPERT IN THE USA will tell you that this testing is 70% inaccurate! This is the reason my daughter became so ill.Right now Aetna is still claiming "we don't know where your claims are? "Honestly I believe that this is their tactic to wear people down so they do not have to pay. This has been going on for over two years.Insurance company's are not our doctors!! Yet Aetna still sucks $600 a month from my pay for "coverage" I am a single working insured adult and I am at risk of my daughter not getting all the treatment she will need. Yet the insurance CEO's have millions of ur dollars that should be paying for her iv's. I will be hnest, I don't know what the answers are as far as how everyone gets insured or how we all get healthcare, bt I certainly know that I pay a giant company every month to be covered and than when we need it , it is very limited in what and how we are covered.
If we have an extaordinary illness we seemed to be screwed!
