Undetected brain tumor: Should have had an MRI

I had headaches for over five years and consulted four or more doctors. I was told it was menopause, I was told that one doctor was "not concerned" that I took 6-8 Excecdrin a day, I was told to consult a psychologist, the implication being that it was all "in my head".

Well, it was. My brain hemorrhaged while I was driving my car. After emergency brain surgery and a week in intensive care, it was discovered post-surgically that I had a brain tumor. I believe a simple MRI could have shown this. I am recovered but I had to insist that after surgery I not take dilatin (sp?) - my surgeon insisted it prevented seizures - and I insisted that since I had not had seizures I did not need the drug.

Happy ending - I am typing this now but a very sad state when doctors are reluctant to have life saving testing done on patients and prescribe drugs in a knee jerk fashion.
