Good ol Kaiser Permanente

Katherine
VA
Heathcare Status: Uninsured

My daughter lost her dependent status last December because she was no longer a full time student. We had her on our Kaiser plan and they were treating her for PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). Kaiser told us we could enroll her in an independent plan and pay her premiums of under 200.00 a month. We filled out the application and sent it in to enroll her. They denied her coverage under the normal plan; but did offer her insurance at over $400 a month premiums citing the HIPA act and how they have to offer her some type of plan.

How in the hell can they get away with this? This is outrageous! Who can afford over a $400 a month insurance premium? That's $4,800 a month not including the costs of copayments and prescriptions! So now she has to go to a free clinic to get the bare basics, and not very quality, healthcare when there is an emergency. This is insane. Maybe I'll have to take her to Canada to get treated.
