Denied the Best Cancer Care
My husband paid for health insurance for 39 years through his union. When he found out that he had lung cancer, he was told that he could not go to University Hospital Ireland Cancer Center because he would only be covered at 50%. He ended up going to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, which is not rated one of the best for cancer. Both are in the city of Cleveland.
I realize that my husband's story is not as horrific as most health care stories and my heart goes out to all of the people being denied care everyday in this country. But shouldn't my husband after paying for health insurance for 39 years have earned the right to choose his care?
Anyone in this country that thinks we don't need CheneyCare for everyone is delusional. According to my calculations, the cost of the Iraq war could have paid for it. Whichever Democrat wins the next election and attempts to come up with a comprehensive health care bill, should completely remove the health insurance companies or we will end up with a system similar to the drug company handouts given to the drug companies under the Medicare drug programs.
