broke parents

My parents were farmers and had the same health insurances for over 40 years. My dad was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. after a few months of various treatments his doctor determined he was terminal and released him to a care center since he needed professional care. she gave him a few weeks to live.

Well, my dad was strong and strong willed. Instead of living a few weeks he lived on for two years. Since he was diagnosed as terminal and placed in the care center to die, the insurance company refused to pay for any of his care. My parents had sold their ranch a fews months before he got sick and bought a small condo, and had about $250,000 in CDs plus their Social Security to live out their retirement.

Well, the care center was $15,000,per month, one of the least expensive in their small town. Long story short, it broke them except for my mom's condo and $2,000. I was happy to take care of her until she died last year.

I know universal health care will not be easy or happen over night but we must start! I now make over $200K per year and would be happy for my taxes to be increased for health care. Hell, I've been taxed for years supporting wars I do not agree with with very little complaining. It would be great to know at least some of my taxes were going to save lives not destroy them.

Sincerely yours, Daen

PS Could you tell me how much taxes would increase to support UHC? Every time I hear some rich out-of-touch Republican neighbor bitch about evil taxes I would like to have a little information to shame them with. Thanks,
