Baby Denied

My 15 month old son was recently denied by Pacific Source insurance in Oregon due to the fact that he has recently got ear tubes -- of all things.

He has been fighting ear infections for the past 8 months and by doctors recommendations he had ear tubes placed in both ears. His ears are now fine, no more endless up-all-nighters ,chronic pain, and antibiotics every 3 weeks . Everything has completely cleared up except he was denied health insurance now because of his tubes. I thought this procedure was very common?

They explained in my denial letter that he "had a potential for significant future medical expenses that is outside their acceptable criteria." I assumed this would be the cheaper options to have tubes in his ears to save them the cost of all the doctor visits, antibiotics, and future hearing damage if he didn't get his ears fixed.

They referred me to the Oregon Pool Medical insurance which would cost me twice as much for him to be on than it would their own insurance, which is something I can't afford. Where does this lead us? Who can sleep at night for knowing they denied a baby insurance for something so common. It's ridiculous!
