Ambulance charges denied
On March 18, 2009 while walking to Septa station to take train to Philadephia, PA to work, I had a bad skid and a bad fall. I could not get up due to excruciating pain in my right lower leg. I had to call 911 to reach the nearest hospital. Ambulance came to my help within 2 minutes.
I was diagnosed of tibia and fibula fractures and operated. Metal implants were surgically placed in my right leg to heal my fractures. I am recovering from this injury at home now. After 1 month, I get letter from Ambulance company stating that my insurance provider has not paid them $529 and that it has to be recovered from me, the injured. This ambulance company is located right next door to my home and I fell very close to my home (I live near Septa station).
Clearly, I do not have a choice which ambulance company comes to my rescue when I call 911, DO I ???? When I called insurance provider, the reply I got was that this ambulance company has been treated as out of network. I checked my insurance provider plan documentation that the town where I live in is listed as "within" network.
I watched Michael Moore's Sicko just yesterday and was very impressed at his noble attitude in serving and helping people who suffer at the hands of the insurance companies. I would request Michael Moore's help in resolving this issue.
Thanks Meena
