Husband's ridiculous $800 Hospital bill
Barbara
Red Bluff, CA
Heathcare Status: Employer Insured
Husband had an infected finger, and we went to a new doctor's office, as I had already gotten a (so- called) pre-existing condition from my former medical office, and was angry with them. I found out later that I was just not on my husband's insurance, as we had to pay for it for 18 months, in order for me to be on it.

I have sent in my story but needed to add one more thing. I wrote our President and Senators about taxing the gaming industry for even one nickel of every dollar Americans spend could go into programs to benefit us when we needed it. They could create a Federal Lottery so people could choose how to spend the recreation dollar.

Low Income, High Priced Prescriptions

I am a doctoral student who is living with a chronic, potentially life-threatening illness. I must take daily prescription medication for my condition and have been denied employer-sponsored health insurance due to my "pre-existing" condition. I am, at least, able to get coverage through my university, but the prescription benefit is woefully inadequate.

To make this short, my story is already online. The Wall Street Journal published it in November 2007. My husband and I are in the process of selling our house, we had an estate sale last week, and we are moving to Belgium for health care reasons(I am a dual national and there are numerous doctors studying Ehlers-Danlos over there).

Make too Much to Qualify for Medi-Cal, but Not Enough to Afford Insurance

Make Too Much To Qualify for Medi-Cal, But Not Enough to Afford Insurance. This is my story about how I slip through the cracks of this medical system. My husband and I make approximately 3,000 dollars a month. Luckily, my daughter has an absent father, and I know that sounds horrible, but it’s the truth in this situation.

Shortly after graduating college, I found myself in a debt-collection agency. I worked for 25 hours / week to make less than double minimum wage, which insurance premiums were taken out of. While I made barely enough to pay rent and my student loans, it was all I needed, really. I spent my days calling people that were in credit card debt, often due to high medical bills or student loans...
