I am a doctoral student who is living with a chronic, potentially life-threatening illness. I must take daily prescription medication for my condition and have been denied employer-sponsored health insurance due to my "pre-existing" condition. I am, at least, able to get coverage through my university, but the prescription benefit is woefully inadequate.

I used to see a physician with Intercoastal Medicine. He "insisted" that I take Interferon. I knew of a holistic medication called Iscador that has been putting cancer in remission as well as immune deficiency diseases such as Hep C. He refused to prescribe it. It is approved by the FDA for compassionate use. Guess he didn't want to be compassionate.

I graduated in 1983 as a RN and have pampered, spoiled, loved and lovingly cared for all my patients. I was their advocate. I haven't been able to work for a year and a half due to Fibromyalgia and Polymyalgia Rheumatica. My back is "gone" from standing up all those years and doing all that lifting.

It began about 15 years ago. I began to feel sick a lot. Then I got mono - oh no! I was 19, began having seasonal allergies, migraine headaches and pain, everywhere. I didn't know what to do. My PCP at the time treated the symptoms and left me to my own devices.
