California OneCare Ad Features CNA President & RN Deborah Burger

Deborah Burger, President of the 85,000-member California Nurses Association, says that their research has shown that a single payer health care system would stimulate the economy and create jobs. And it would mean that patient care would be nurses’ first priority. That’s why they support California OneCare.

Deborah On California One Care

Right on Deborah For being the voice for healthcare that will eliminate the middle man and use its profit to help sick people not fund CEOs exorbitant salaries

Jobs

The healthcare industry is already the largest job creator over the recent past. This plan is really all about redistributing wealth - another chapter in the long slow decline of freedom that this country has enjoyed. CEO salaries and profit, while sometimes deemed unsavory, are but a minor influence on the costs and outcomes. And more importantly, they have a small growth rate compared to the increasing cost of medical services which is driven by an aging population, new healthcare technology and services, and rising disease prevalence. With the wave of baby boomers approaching the most expensive time of their lives (healthwise) this is not the time to be thinking about more promises and guarantees. Instead it should be a time of reflecting about where to cut and where to create sustainability. Unfortunately the creators of Medicare and Medicaid did not do a great job thinking about the long term. We need to correct that.
