Health Plans Say They'll Risk Losing Members to Protect Profit Margins
"Meanwhile, businesses and individuals are dropping coverage in the wake of higher insurance premiums."

I just posted this as a comment on another blog, then realized it merits it own blog entry.
The amazing thing about insurance companies is that, like the Bush administration, they are so brazen about their policies and don't care who knows about their motivations. I read this article with disbelief, although why I couldn't believe it is still a mystery to me. You would think after 8 years of this administration (oh, is it only 7? It seems like 70!) that nothing would surprise me any more.

And here is my favorite part:
"We will not sacrifice profitability for membership," WellPoint President and CEO Angela Braly told analysts during a conference call."
That says it all. Case closed. Now can we please just start solving the problem instead of arguing whether the country needs national health care?

Private health insurance companies are shameless.
We are only dollar signs to them. Who is watching out for the best interest of the People? We should never have come to this where insurers can, with impunity, greedily take our money and then provide care that ranks 37th in the world.
They are a blemish and a scourge to our great nation. Away with them!
Health care for all. No excuses.
